How will Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka ultimately be remembered?

Will he be remembered for his work inside the ring, or will the dark cloud that hovers over the death of Nancy Argentino forever taint his legacy? It is a difficult question to answer. Snuka passed away at the beginning of 2017, just 12 days after he was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial.

What of Snuka's WrestleMania performances? The Superfly will forever be remembered as the very first wrestler to lose to The Undertaker at the Showcase of the Immortals, beginning 'Taker's famous streak that lasted all the way until WrestleMania XXX. The WrestleMania VII match against 'Taker was Snuka's second 'Mania match - and his last for 18 years.

Almost two decades later Snuka teamed up with 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper and Rick Steamboat to take on Chris Jericho in a three-on-one handicap match. Snuka was the first man eliminated in the match, tapping up to the Walls of Jericho after just three and three-quarter minutes.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
