In more modern times, the United States Title has been passed around without much rhyme or reason.

There was a time when title switches were always booked to be memorable, but that has lessened as time has gone on. Still, Cesaro did hold the belt for a long time in 2012-2013.

Unfortunately, WWE let the 'Swiss Superman' down by booking his title triumph on the pre-show of SummerSlam 2012. Before the pay-per-view even started airing, Cesaro defeated Santino Marella to become the new United States Champion on WWE's official website and YouTube.

Then, without much fanfare he dropped the title to Kofi Kingston on the April 15, 2013 episode of Monday Night Raw. Regardless of the fact that his run with the gold wasn't completely remarkable, it was lengthy.

Cesaro held the WWE United States Title for an uninterrupted reign of 239 days, making him one of the longest since WWE resurrected the belt in 2003.
