The Monster Abyss has been with TNA since 2003, but he actually had a one-off appearance a year earlier when he competed in an NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament as Justice. He returned to the promotion as the character he portrays today. He helped usher in a more hardcore style to TNAs roster because while there were ECW Originals like Raven in the mix, it was up to the younger generation like Abyss to take those bumps onto thumbtacks. Just like any monster type character in wrestling, Abyss has gone through periods where hes treated as the ultimate threat, and periods where he portrays a loveable misfit. Sometimes hes beating Mick Foley bloody and others hes using Hulk Hogans WWE Hall of Fame ring to summon the power of Hulkamania. For a while, the Abyss character went away and his lawyer brother Joseph Park showed up at Impact looking for him. It was eventually revealed that Park was an identity adopted by Abyss after he grew tired of being a monster although due to his mental instability, Joseph Park and Abyss were two entirely separate personalities. Currently, Abyss has resumed his role as TNAs resident monster and after a very short face turn, he reverted to a heel and found his place in James Storms Revolution. Along with Storm, he defeated The Wolves for their TNA Tag Team Championships and recently re-signed with the promotion.
