10 Loudest Crowd Reactions In WWE History
2. "The Old Stone Cold"
It can be universally agreed that the Invasion storyline was a disaster. What can't be denied is how incredible it was when "the old Stone Cold" returned to his roots, stunning everyone within an arm's length in classic fashion.
WWE's attempt to execute a Stone Cold Steve Austin heel turn at WrestleMania X7 was difficult, at best. Fans who adored the Texas Rattlesnake denied the change, begging for the company to give them back their beloved bird-flipping hero instead of the Vince McMahon-adoring version of Austin.
Upon the collaborative invasion by former WCW and ECW wrestlers, Vince McMahon teased the turn by telling Austin that he needed "the old Stone Cold" to join the party. Austin would not be swayed, however, even passing up an invitation to "beat the living hell out of Vince McMahon" from Vince himself.
Just a handful of days later, Stone Cold would show up on Raw mid-brawl swinging a pool cue and fighting his way to the ring. The shattering of glass - met by an overwhelming reaction - signified that the Stone Cold Steve Austin we had come to know and love had returned, as Austin opened up a trademark can of whoop !*$% to fight off The Alliance.
