10 Loudest Crowd Reactions In WWE History
3. British Bulldog Has His Day
If American fans liken amazing crowd reactions to teams winning the Super Bowl in their home town, the British Bulldog winning the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 1992 was like England winning the FIFA World Cup on English soil.
The only major pay-per-view to day held outside of the United States produced one of the most stunning scenes in WWE history. 80,000 fans were in attendance at Wembley Stadium, with every single one of them eagerly awaiting to see if hometown hero Davey Boy Smith would claim the Intercontinental Championship from Bret Hart.
The match is regarded as one of the best SummerSlam matches of all time. The tension that was released in a single burst when British Bulldog won the title could have been cut with a knife. As expected, the massive crowd - which was then the third-largest on record - exploded for their champion.
Let's just forget the part where Bulldog was sorely lacking fitness at this point and Bret Hart had to carry him through the entire 37-minute match. He was also released later in the year for receiving shipments of steroids but you know, hooray and stuff.
