Randy Orton dealt Mick Foley a dishonourable WWE discharge on December 15th, 2003.

In the midst of a storyline that cast the former Mankind as unwilling to face 'The Legend Killer,' Mick walked out on a match between himself and Orton on an episode of Raw. Randy dressed him down backstage. He called Foley a coward, then spat in his face, writing his new rival off television in the most humiliating way.

Mick was absent from TV for a while, but hatred still simmered. Foley remembered what Orton had done to him, and he entered the 2004 Royal Rumble full of venom and bile, ready to tear the head off the snake.

His arrival almost blew the building's roof off. Foley stomped down in full Cactus Jack garb, and Orton was petrified. He barely had time to react before Foley was right in his face, creating a memorable elimination as Mick barrelled into his opponent, sending both flying over the top rope. This Rumble wasn't about winning for Foley, but escalating a bitter blood feud - one that culminated in an outstanding No Holds Barred match at Backlash 2004, with Orton's win legitimising him as a performer.
