The contract Hulk Hogan signed in 1998 for WCW was leaked on to the internet a few years back, with it being glaring and stunning how much The Hulkster was able to negotiate in his favour in order for him to keep working for WCW. He received a $2 million bonus just for signing, $20,000 every month for wearing/promoting NWO shirts, 25% of gross (not net) ticket sales for TV and house shows, ‘approval over the outcome of all wrestling matches in which he appears’ and 15% of PPV buys for every show he wrestled on (with the minimum guarantee being $675,000).

This essentially means matches like Hogan vs. Randy Savage at Uncensored (1998), which drew 415,000 PPV buys, and Hogan vs. Sting at SuperBrawl VIII, which drew 415,000 PPV buys, and Hogan vs. Ric Flair at SuperBrawl IX, which drew 485,000 PPV buys, earned Hogan a colossal amount of money and for sure more than any of the opponents he faced on the events.

Every time Hogan hit the big leg drop in WCW he may as well have been hitting it on Ted Turner’s chequebook.
