After previous comments from the man himself that he was winding down his career, AEW's Adam Copeland has now announced that 2027 will be his final year as an active performer.

Copeland made this announcement during last night's AEW Dynamite, where he faced off against Josh Alexander for a spot in the Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream this weekend. Cope would win that match, cementing himself in the eight-man Clockwork Carnage bout for Will Ospreay's AEW World Championship on Saturday.

Post-match, the former Edge took a microphone and said that he's ageing out, and that's fine, then confirmed he'll be wrapping up his active career in 2027, and that he also wants to add the AEW World Title to his accolades.

The 52-year-old Copeland also addressed his partner, Christian Cage, revealing that Cage broke three ribs at All Out last month, including one rib that was broken in three places, and suffered a collapsed lung, meaning Captain Charisma is set for a spell on the sidelines.

This Copeland promo was eventually interrupted by the Don Callis Family, as Konosuke Takeshita and the Conglomeration came out to assist Copeland and ward off Callis' men.

For Adam Copeland, we have somebody who made their professional wrestling debut in 1992, 34 years ago. He debuted for the then-WWF in 1996, signed with the company the following year, and resurfaced as Edge in the summer of 1998. The Canadian would remain with the rebranded WWE until 2011, when he was forced into retirement due to cervical spinal stenosis, only to make a spectacular return to the ring at the 2020 Royal Rumble.

Of course, Copeland would debut for AEW on October 1st, 2023, one day after his previous WWE deal had expired.

When looking back at his career, the Rated-R Superstar has 11 WWE World Titles to his name, five WWE Intercontinental Titles, a WWE United States Title, 14 WWE Tag Team Titles, is a King of the Ring winner, a two-time Royal Rumble winner, the inaugural Money in the Bank winner, and a WWE Hall of Famer, in addition to winning the AEW TNT Title twice and, most recently, being one half of the AEW Tag Team Champions with Christian Cage.
