10 Major Mistakes WWE Has Made In 2014

1. Booking The Authority As The Top Heels

In was in October of last year that The Authority was officially named. A couple of months earlier, HHH kicked off the angle when he screwed Daniel Bryan out of the WWE Title. It just keeps on going, despite the fact that neither Hunter or Stephanie McMahon are active wrestlers. During this past year, Hunter and Stephanie have appeared in the opening segments of Raw more often than not. They€™ve eaten up more TV time than any single wrestler. They€™ve emasculated the characters of Randy Orton and Kane, as they€™ve been reduced to henchmen. Stephanie even booked herself to beat one of the company€™s top women wrestlers (without Brie ever getting revenge), and they continually mocked Daniel Bryan€™s physique and stature on air (and not in a good heat, money-drawing type of way). There are so many ways to book a wrestling show. History, though, has shown that a company is at its most successful when the shows are booked around the wrestlers themselves. Only for a brief period in time during the late 90s did that formula change. That€™s it. It hasn€™t worked sense. With Raw€™s ratings continuing to slide, management should be looking at what the top story has been. If only they were that honest with themselves. Perhaps there has been no greater source of fan fatigue over this past year than due to the overplayed evil owners angle.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
