Daniel Bryan joining the Wyatt Family accomplished three things: 1) It pissed fans off 2) It conditioned fans to not get invested in WWE storylines 3) It made Bray Wyatt look like a terrible leader. The Wyatt Family initially kidnapped Kane, and he returned months later no worse for wear. Next they had their sights on WWEs bearded hero. After weeks of the two sides doing battle, Bryan gave in. Just like that he turned on his fans, and everything he believed him and submitted to Wyatts plan. Initially, WWE planned for the Daniel Wyatt storyline would go on for months. It surely would have kept him out of the WrestleMania main event. It lasted two weeks. No one out there wanted to boo Daniel Bryan. He was becoming more popular with each passing show, and seemed well on his way to superstardom. Fans were upset that he had been screwed out of title opportunity after title opportunity. They wanted him back on top, not stuck in an angle that was destined to go nowhere. It was a completely baffling decision by Vince McMahon, and kind of seemed mean-spirited on his part. The boss often claims that WWE gives the fans what they want, but it was almost like he was giving us the middle finger and laughing at us upon his giant pile of cash. Try as he might, though, no one joined the anti-Bryan bandwagon. The backlash was immediate, and WWE was forced to turn him back unless they wanted fans hijacking their shows every week. Unfortunately, it made no sense from a storytelling sense for him to turn, and only made it even harder to invest in big WWE angles when its clear theyre not thought out. No! No! No!
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
