Easily the most startling take away from all this is precisely how bad things were for Punk in 2014, both professionally and personally.

He talks in depth about how bitter he was towards the company at the time of the podcast and nearly breaks down in tears on the stand when going back over how he felt at the time. It’s hard to “bring up memories” he says, of things he’s tried to move past.

As well as his mental health though, Punk gives the impression he was breaking down physically as well. He describes having headaches, a lack of sleep, no appetite, narrowed vision, dizziness, and being unable to support his head with his neck.

He confirms that he was, at the time, vomiting after every match and even having random crying spells. “My head was a fishbowl”, he told the jurors. “I’d be in catering, one sec fine, next welling up. I’m sure I wasn’t fun to be around”.
