10 Major WWE Returns That Flopped

7. Scott Steiner

Big Poppa Pump is your hookup! Holla if you hear him! Unless he's in WWE, then you were probably hollering at him to go away. When WCW went out of business Scott Steiner was a man without a home. Sure, he was still making a lot of money due to his contract with Time Warner, but he wasn't on our TVs anymore. That was a shame, as he came into his own the last couple years of WCW's existence. He was one of their last true stars, and the thought of him battling the WWE's top babyfaces was an exciting idea. He was also in need of another return to the WWE after his underwhelming run with the company in the mid 90s with his brother Rick. Unfortunately, WWE dropped the ball on Steiner's return right out of the gate. For some reason that may never be explained they turned him babyface. That was a huge mistake. Scott Steiner is simply a heel. You don't cheer a man who calls himself The Big Bad Booty Daddy! Upon his arrival he was pushed in a feud with Triple H that just wasn't good for anybody, except for people who enjoy matches with 35 belly-to-belly suplexes. Scott was also having problems with his feet and back which made him far less mobile than just a few years before. In turn, his matches with Hunter were awful, possibly the worst of the year. Steiner came out on the losing side of the feud and then was finally turned heel. By that time it was too late. You can't take a former main-eventer, toss him in the mid-card and expect people to care. By the end of his run The Big Bad Booty Daddy was just bad.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
