Truth be told, this whole list could be populated with planned WrestleMania matches that never came to pass, but we're going to focus on one in particular - one which would have generated a lot of mainstream media publicity. It would have seen the biggest star in Hollywood take on a former UFC Heavyweight Champion.

Even before WrestleMania 29 - where The Rock defended the WWE Championship against John Cena and Brock Lesnar inexplicably lost to Triple H - plans were being made for Lesnar versus The Rock the following year in New Orleans. There was even a minor tease for the match on TV. When Lesnar invaded WWE headquarters to destroy HHH's office, he took a moment to sneer at a poster of The Rock.

Unfortunately, The Rock suffered multiple muscle tears in his match with Cena, and that delayed production on his Hercules film. Movies, of course, are multi-million-dollar productions that require the efforts of hundreds of people, and studio executives weren't exactly appreciative of the fact that a movie got hamstrung because the star decided to go do some play fighting.

Despite the fact that a third Cena-Rock match was teased on the Raw after WrestleMania, The Rock soon made it clear that he couldn't compete so long as he had film commitments on his schedule - and given that he's the busiest man in show business, that pretty much meant always (his WrestleMania 32 classic with Erick Rowan notwithstanding).

The Brock match was, of course, cancelled.
