The Mad Max film franchise is famous for inspiring the legendary Road Warriors. Less well remembered however, is wrestling's knock-off of one of the films other central characters, Lord Humongous.

Complete with hockey mask and minimal S&M attire, wrestling's namesake version of Lord Humongous debuted to the sounds of Kiss' War Machine in Memphis' CWA in 1984.

A creation of Jerry Lawler, it was the King's trainee Jeff Van Kamp who would become the first permanent Humongous, after Mike Stark's run came to an early end.

As part of Jimmy Hart's heel Family, Humongous was brought in to take out Lawler, which, of course he failed to do. Moving on to Alabama in 1985, Van Kamp's wrestling career would come to an early demise when he retired to become a police officer in 1985.

While John's, Saxon and Gavin would represent Humongous in periodic appearances, the most recognised portrayal of the character came in 1987, when Lawler introduced a new Humongous to Memphis, the unbelievably unpolished Sid Eudy.

Brought in as Paul E. Dangerously's newest recruit, the future Psycho Sid's would portray Humongous on and off for two years before becoming Sid Vicious and joining WCW in 1989, leaving the future Bull Buchanon to pick up the bondage harness in the 90's.
