10 Masked Wrestling Gimmicks That Changed Ownership
6. Suicide
If there was ever a moniker that could be used to surmise the business practices of TNA, it was Suicide.
An original character creation of Midway Games for the video game TNA Impact!, Suicide was brought to life in 2008.
Originally portrayed by Frankie Kazarian, the mask was shifted to Christoper Daniels after an injury to Kaz. Under Daniels' charge Suicide claimed his first X-Division Championship in an Ultimate X match at Destination X in May 2009. Kazarian would re-assume the mantle of Suicide upon his return from injury later in the year, losing the title to Homicide, before eventually retiring the Suicide character and returning under his real name.
Given no one really cared about the gimmick the first time, Suicide was naturally brought back by TNA in 2010, this time under the command of Kiyoshi. In a move that lasted less than three months...
...only to be brought back in 2011, this time with Daniels under the mask.
It would be two long years before Suicide reemerged on Impact, this time portrayed by TJ Perkins. After having his identity stolen by Austin Aries, Suicide unmasked for the first time, revealing himself to have been TJP all along - and the crowd went mild.
