10 Match Quality Predictions For AEW All Out
4. Cody Vs. Shawn Spears
Cody famously smashed Triple H's throne at Double Or Nothing, but he has flexed more impressively over his Executive Vice President rival by advancing his methodical, story-driven traditional epic and making it far more interesting.
The Road To All Out has built this match tremendously; Spears, driven to brutality by what he perceived as the ultimate disrespect, brained Cody with a steel chair in a notorious Fyter Fest angle, before hiring the services of the sinister, authoritative Tully Blanchard. Cody has no-sold all of this, perhaps in an attempt to infuriate his opponent into a mistake. Cody is over as hell with the AEW audience, and he knows exactly where to position himself on the card to extract the maximum reaction. Spears is untested in such a high-profile role - and only broke through after an eternity in WWE's developmental system as a spirited babyface - but the drama on the outside of the ring, Cody's ability to lay out a heated old-school war, and the blood that will inevitably piss from his face, should elevate Spears over the course of one rapturously-received match.
Cody's corner person should be unveiled on the night, spiking additional drama before the bell even sounds.
Arn Anderson for the roof-blowing spinebuster spot, or the anxious threat of MJF's imminent heel turn?
Projected Star Rating: ****1/2
