10 Match Star Ratings For WWE Super ShowDown 2020
5. Mansoor Vs. Dolph Ziggler
This wasn't a bad match, by any means, and the pitch was inspired enough.
It was a continuation of Mansoor's regional character arc, in which he gets over in Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia alone through being paired with a seasoned workhorse. The issue is that WWE had already selected its best workhorse in Cesaro. This was a diminished return. The other issue is that this never leads anywhere, means nothing to anybody outside of Saudi Arabia, and is house show fare that needs an atmosphere you aren't a part of to get over.
Ziggler played the cocky veteran role convincingly enough, initially, and Mansoor possesses a star quality that gets over, but unfortunately manifests in dorky facial expressions. The (pretty good) comeback took an age to arrive, which didn't help. Ziggler's fast, big-bumping style of old is just that now, and as a result of his stop/start, overlong and overfamiliar midcard career lacks the gravitas to play this role in a match of any significant length. Mansoor crushed his ribs at the finish, revealing his inexperience.
"We're here to stay!" Mansoor said in his post-match victory speech, as if he even gets booked on NXT.
