Never have groans been more audible. Yes, Daniel Bryan is the best wrestler in WWE and yes, having him feud with King Corbin is a colossal waste of his abilities. That would be true even without the added context of his miraculous return from retirement. In a perfect world, Daniel Bryan would be no more and Bryan Danielson would be doing battle with Okada, Ibushi, Naito and the rest in NJPW.

But this isn’t a perfect world, it never has been. Daniel Bryan is a company man and all power to him for that, but feuding with King Corbin is arguably the best solution for all parties (except the fans, of course). WWE is unlikely to put the rocket on Bryan any time soon, so why not use his once-in-a-generation talents to improve the lagging performances of some in-house products?

Like him or not, King Corbin is a WWE project. He isn’t going away, not in the immediate future. Having him work empty arena matches with the best in the world could do wonders for him in the long term. If you can’t get better working with Bryan, best of luck to you.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
