The company didn't learn from their mistakes from the previous year, come WrestleMania VIII.

WrestleMania IX also featured a mid-card match that was pulled to ensure the closing segment, which saw Hulk Hogan win the WWF Championship in an impromptu "match" against Yokozuna, had enough time to make air. The unlucky match scratched in 1993 was Kamala vs. Bam Bam Bigelow.

Bigelow would have plenty more opportunities to shine on Pay-Per-View, including the WrestleMania XI main event, but this would've been Kamala's last WWF Pay-Per-View - notwithstanding the Gimmick Battle Royal from WrestleMania X-Seven eight years later. As it turned out, Kamala's last singles pay-per-view bout was the first-ever Coffin Match at Survivor Series '92.

According to Bruce Prichard, who recently discussed the decision to cancel Kamala/Bigelow on his Something To Wrestle With podcast with Conrad Thompson, no match from WrestleMania IX exceed its allotted time or "went long" as they say. The decision was made simply to allow Hulk Hogan plenty of time to pose with the title as the show drew to a close.
