10 Memorable WWE Moments From Sunday Night Heat
3. The Public Enemy Vs. The Acolytes
When it comes to infamous bouts on Sunday Night Heat, there's no match more notorious than The Acolytes vs. Public Enemy.
Fresh out of WCW, Public Enemy did themselves no favours in the WWF locker room. After refusing to put over The Acolytes, their last minute refusal to go along with a planned table spot seconds before the match began was the final straw for the APA. The prima donna attitude was all the ammo Faarooq and Bradshaw needed to tee off on the ECW alumni and the sheer level of physicality on display in this bout is enough to leave you bruised just viewing it.
In what is essentially a televised mugging, the Ministry's hard-hitting henchmen pulled no punches in their assault on Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge, taking the heat to their opponents with unbridled tenacity...and chairs, stairs and tables. The match was only the third TV outing for Public Enemy in the WWF and the vicious onslaught was a clear message to the newcomers.
Kevin Kelly called it best when he said "I don't know if we'll ever see Public Enemy again!" He wasn't too far wrong and Public Enemy would be gone from the World Wrestling Federation by the end of the month.
