10 Memorably Punishing WWE Matches

4. Kurt Angle Vs. Shane McMahon - King Of The Ring 2001

Shane McMahon, perhaps compensating for being the boss' son, was willing to do things seasoned wrestlers would shudder to contemplate. His drop off the Titantron at the hands of Steve Blackman at SummerSlam 2000 was a high (low?) point of Shane O Mac's relationship with the integrity of his own body. But arguably his least sensible moment came in his street fight against Kurt Angle at King of the Ring 2001.

A memorably excellent and already extremely stiff match was punctuated by a couple of utterly horrendous moments, namely when Angle suplexed Shane through a pane of glass behind the stage. It would have been brutal enough if it had gone right, but it didn't. The pane didn't break, allegedly being made of the wrong type of plastic to break neatly, and Shane thumped down to earth on the top of his head.

Obviously, they did it again, because this was Shane. He insisted Angle repeat the move and what Shane wanted, he got. This time the glass broke and Shane landed 'safely' in a crumpled heap on the concrete.
