10 Memorably Punishing WWE Matches
2. Perry Saturn Vs. Mike Bell (2001)
This match is an example of wrestling's law of the jungle in action, courtesy of glassy-eyed mental case Perry Saturn. In a match against jobber Mike Bell, Saturn became peeved when Bell messed up a hip toss.
Saturn decided against a sternly-worded email to Human Resources, which might have sufficed in any other industry, and instead attempted to kill Mike Bell. Firstly he dumped Bell out of the ring, ensuring he spiked head-first onto the concrete.
When Bell informed Saturn he had landed on his head, Saturn's sympathy extended as far as hoisting Bell off his feet and delivering a half-spinebuster, half-murder attempt into the ring steps. The back of Bell's already abused skull rang off the metal steps.
It was a particularly egregious example of wrestling's rough and ready sense of justice, with someone at the bottom of the totem pole being taken advantage of by a wrestler slightly higher up, played out live where the recipient had no choice but to see the match through.
