10 Midcard WWE Stars Who Wrestled One Huge Match

1. R-Truth (WWE Championship Match Vs John Cena) - Capitol Punishment 2011

Over the course of this list, it has become clear that 2011 was some sort of experimental year for the WWE in terms of it's main event talent. Already highlighted were Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel's Money In The Bank match, as well as The Miz and Alex Riley's battles with John Cena. However, the strangest was yet to come in that year, at the Capitol Punishment PPV (an event that has never been held again), in which R-Truth faced Cena one on one for the WWE Title. R-Truth is a dependable presence on WWE programming, a fun superstar with some flashy moves and the ability to rap his own catchy entrance music on the way to the ring. The kiddies love him and he will therefore likely always have a place in the company. But in 2011, Truth experienced what can only be described as a career renaissance, where a heel turn and new 'crazy' attitude, along with his trusty invisible buddy Little Jimmy, somehow conspired to take him to the main event. Wrestling! Truth's Little Jimmy (a reference to the legions of young, merchandise wearing Cena fans in attendance) rants were pretty entertaining, and he really developed a talent with comedy on the microphone, but in no way should that qualify someone for a run at the title. The match itself was forgettable, as nobody really believed that Truth stood any chance of dethroning Cena, and he returned to the midcard after a stint teaming with The Miz as The Awesome Truth. These days he can be seen rapping and losing quick enhancement matches during his sporadic appearances on Raw or Smackdown.
