Shawn Michaels pulled a lot of stunts over the course of his career, but for some reason Vince McMahon was able to forgive just about all of them. However, on an incredibly important night in the history of the business, Vince had enough of Shawn's problems and sent him home.

The incident started on 26 Mar. 2001. It was the date of the final Nitro, and Vince was on Raw gloating about his new purchase throughout the night. Shawn wasn't in the company on a full-time basis at the time, but was asked to be at the building for the show. He thought it may be the start of a new story for him in some form, but when he found out he wasn’t going to be used on TV that night he started taking some pills and basically passed out backstage.

Shawn had also been invited to SmackDown the next day, but when he got there Jerry Brisco got him to confess he was on something the previous night, and then booted him from the building. On the way out, Shawn tore into Triple H, because he agreed with management that Shawn was on something at Raw. He called Hunter a backstabber, and he didn’t talk to him for almost a year because of the incident.

The two eventually patched things up, but that event was a big moment for Michaels to turn his life around and kick his drug habit. It took some time, but he eventually cleaned up and returned to WWE for years of in-ring action.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
