10 Mistakes AEW Can't Afford To Make At Double Or Nothing 2021

1. Heat's No Good For A Night Like This

AEW has built a crowd-pleaser of a show for its first show back in front of a full one.

They are not a stupid company. They saved Sting's first live match in years for this weekend. They saved the coronation of Dr. Britt Baker, months and months and months in the offing, to guarantee her a superstar reaction. Orange Cassidy is in a World Title match. Hangman Page is primed for a cathartic win before his real quest begins anew. AEW can't pump out wall-to-wall babyface wins because months of storytelling can't just vanish for the sake of one night, no matter how special that night will be.

Kenny Omega must retain, but then, he was cheered at the expense of Jon Moxley at Winter Is Coming, and Jon Moxley might just be the best human being alive.

On the subject of Mox, he and Eddie Kingston should win the Tag Team Titles even if it's a rare, situation-dependent temporary AEW Title reign. The company tends not to do short reigns or alter plans when somebody gets hot. But just this once, for the pure serotonin, the folk heroes should prevail over the rich arseholes. The Bucks will be even better rich arseholes crowing about this win, but still...

If that alters long-term plans, switch the titles back in a Falls Count Anywhere match that lays waste to Daily's Place before the show goes back on the road.
