10 Mistakes That Actually Enhanced WWE Matches

6. The Rumble Botch (Royal Rumble 2005)

Botch: Minutes before an irate Vince McMahon would march out and end up tearing both quadriceps muscles in his legs, both John Cena and Batista accidentally tumbled over the top rope at the same time. That wasn't WWE's plan for the Royal Rumble 2005 finish, and it meant they had to ad-lib a new ending so Batista could win (which was on the agenda).

How It Enhanced The Match: The flubbed conclusion was somehow way better than WWE's original vision.

Seeing an absolutely f*cked right off Vinnie Mac staring holes through Cena, Batista and a collection of referees he couldn't wait to throttle was priceless for fans. It also definitely didn't hurt that both wrestlers had inadvertently made the botch look like it was supposed to happen all along.

This was every bit as smooth as the planned Bret Hart and Lex Luger finish from 1994 - they probably couldn't have done it that well if they'd tried. In the end, the pay-per-view had more drama and Batista won anyway. Job done, lads.
