10 Mistakes That Cost WWE Stars Their Careers

2. Sin Cara (Mistico) Fails To Adapt

Signed amidst much fanfare in 2011, Mistico was said to be the answer to WWE's prayers.

With the knowledge that Rey Mysterio was suffering from serious knee problems, there was a top spot potentially open for a high-flying masked star to seize. Renamed Sin Cara, Mistico was said to be that man.

Right from the off, there were alarm bells. Botching his springboard trampoline-assisted entrance, Sin Cara looked less-than-convincing during his debut match against Primo.

As hard as WWE's announcers tried to cover up for the guy, it was blatantly obvious that he didn't really fit in with the promotion's overall presentation and couldn't quite gel with his Puerto Rican opponent.

Some tried to explain this as being a different style, but Mistico didn't look anything close to the smooth performer he had been in his native Mexico.

Worse, he chose to wave off a RAW match against Alberto Del Rio due to a minor finger injury, rather than continue the bout. This obviously didn't sit well with management.

Mistico's apparent refusal to bed into the WWE way of doing things was notable. Mere months into his run, WWE had started exploring the option of replacing him under the mask.

The man who plays Sin Cara on television now is not the same man the company heavily hyped and had so much faith in years ago.
