10 Mistakes WWE Are Still Paying For
8. Burying Finn
WWE had their reasons for burying Finn Bálor back in October, namely: they needed Kane to be strong for a mega feud opposite Braun Strowman, which lasted just a couple of weeks before climaxing on Raw.
All of that makes you wonder if it really had to be the Demon King, one of the company's brightest up-and-coming young stars, to take the fall. Couldn't they have just had Kane plough through Apollo Crews instead? He's always losing.
The long-term effect on Bálor's career has been pretty catastrophic. For one thing, it meant that he was robbed of the opportunity to battle Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble, in turn giving rise to a sense of inertia around his WWE career as a whole.
There's every chance he could force his way back into the main event in the future, but he's probably been set back a good year by the decision to make him a sacrificial lamb for a mayoral candidate who likely won't wrestle ever again.
