WWE are the masters of taking something cool and running it into the ground. From Zack Ryder’s YouTube career to the Women’s Revolution, the second Michael Cole started talking about it on commentary it lost all of its edge.

It’s not just because Cole is fantastically uncool either. It’s because the second WWE clicks onto something they seem incapable of not shoving it into our faces as hard as they can. Do you remember when they first discovered Twitter? Everything was a bloody hashtag.

Some things need the company to push them, and some just need to be left alone. You can nudge it behind the scenes if you must but don’t make it obvious. Let the fans believe they are attaching themselves to something not entirely approved by Vince’s empire. You might just find they warm to it a lot more than you expect.
