10 Modern WWE Hell In A Cell Matches That Didn't Feel PG
9. Jey Uso Vs. Roman Reigns (2020)
While Uso and Reigns' modern classic of emotional wrestling narratives doesn't have the violence of the infamous Hell in a Cell bouts of old, they capture the intensity and necessity of the Cell as the conclusion to a feud perfectly.
The feud between "The Tribal Chief" Roman Reigns and his underdog cousin Jey Uso has been the best executed story of the year, genuinely compelling wrestling fans throughout the world with the personal elements and emotional performances. It has filled people that love this industry with the need to see what happens next, the goosebumps upon certain narrative moments happening, the emotional connection to each of the performers. It felt like a storyline akin to Owen and Bret Hart's feud instead of any textbook modern WWE rivalry.
While the brutality wasn't as sadistic as many matches on the list, the way it was structured made it feel monumental, with every move feeling thudding and painful to witness, especially with how broken Jey looked after every offensive move. The emotional incorporation of Jimmy Uso made it feel even more like a classic melodrama, something genuinely challenging and outside of what we expect from PG wrestling.
