10 Modern WWE Hell In A Cell Matches That Didn't Feel PG
8. The Undertaker Vs. Triple H (2012)
Similarly to Jey and Roman's contest, The Undertaker and Triple H capture the aura of the Hell in a Cell narratively, using the steel structure as a way to signify the end of this rivalry and a feeling of importance that is rare in the PG era. They might not have bled or thrown each other off of the cell, but they told a monumental story that felt like it happened in another era.
The culmination of a four year narrative of DX attempting to end the Streak, The End of an Era match at WrestleMania XXVIII is one of the finest examples of WWE melodrama in history. The larger than life characters with decades of history and connections with the audience, the clear narrative told over the 30 minute runtime about HHH willing to do whatever it takes to win, the incorporation of Shawn Michaels as special guest referee and the incredible in ring work cement it as a classic.
They made every moment count, piecing together a brutal Cell masterpiece that had audiences hung on every moment. It was the end of the Attitude Era, a match that learned from what came before and combined them into one beautiful new.
