10 Moments That Literally Stopped AEW Wrestling Matches

2. Matt Hardy’s Scary Fall

Oh boy, this is a tough one to talk about.

The All Out 2020 Broken Rules between Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara will live on in infamy forever. Why? Because Hardy nearly died, that's why.

Very early into the match, Guevara speared Hardy off the top of a scissor lift. They mostly crashed through a table set up beneath them, with the notable exception of Matt's head. That thwacked the concrete floor instead.

It was an incredibly reckless spot that should never have been signed off on, but what happened next was even worse. After the match was initially called off due to Hardy's injuries, it was later resumed to allow Matt to get the win over Sammy.

The stipulation of the match stated that if Hardy lost he would be forced to leave AEW. This meant he had to win, but there must have been a safer way of getting there. Especially when the closing spot featured both men scaling some scaffolding.

Hardy was in no fit state to continue and AEW should never have allowed him to. This incident remains one of the darkest days in the company's entire history, even after all these years.
