10 Moments That Will Shape Wrestling During The Next Decade
8. Jon Moxley Returns To WWE And The Shield Re-Unites
If CM Punk can return - OK, fine, return adjacent - than the former Dean Ambrose certainly can. Jon Moxley has taken AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling by storm, finishing 2019 as one of the hottest wrestlers on the planet. Mox has been performing some of the most inspired wrestling of his career and he looks like a man reborn. As the title of his This Is Jericho podcast suggests, Moxley has been emancipated and can pursue anything he likes in the wrestling world. Eventually, that will mean returning to WWE.
Moxley will spend time fulfilling creative desires and helping build AEW, but eventually he'll want to get the band back together. Roman Reigns recently signed a multi year deal and Seth Rollins has a new character and is engaged to Becky Lynch, so it's easy to see The Big Dog and The Architect sticking with WWE throughout the next decade.
The Shield will go on a nostalgic tear, running roughshod over the WWE roster. It will be great to see the trio reunite, and it'll be fascinating to see if Jonathan Good keeps his Moxley character or returns to the Ambrose moniker.
Moxley is only getting started though. In AEW, he is currently involved in a storyline with Le Champion, and he kickstarted his decade in NJPW by successfully defending his IWGP United States Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 14.
Don't expect this re-union to happen until the latter part of the decade.
