10 Moments That Will Shape Wrestling During The Next Decade
3. Impact Wrestling Closes Its Doors
This is, sadly, going to leave a smaller impact on the industry than expected. It will also be the moment when AEW is no longer viewed as the babyface promotion. They won't be perceived as some sort of evil empire, but they will take the bulk of the blame for the end of Impact Wrestling.
With two American wrestling promotions backed by billionaires, it's going to be much harder for independent wrestling promotions to retain their top talent. With AEW and WWE continuing to offer big money contracts to indie darlings, it is going to be too difficult for Impact Wrestling to compete financially and at some point this decade, the former TNA Wrestling will be forced to shut down.
While AEW will take some heat for being a factor in Impact shutting down, this will be overshadowed by the excitement that will come with WWE, AEW, and NJPW scrambling to scoop up all of the free-agent talent who will be without a home.
Fans will benefit from heaps of, previously unseen, Impact Wrestling content put up for free online and the sadness of a lost promotion will quickly be replaced with the excitement of even more wrestling content. Thrills of surprise appearances from former Impact Wrestlers on Monday Night RAW, NXT, Friday Night SmackDown, and AEW Dynamite will also help fans quickly move on.
