10 Moments Which Should Have Changed WWE’s Plans (But Didn’t)

8. Seth Rollins Is Welcomed Back As A Hero

Seth Rollins was cruelly injured during his first run as WWE Champion during a house show back in November 2015.

The heelish face of The Authority was forced to spend the next six months watching from the sidelines as his former Shield brother Roman Reigns picked up the WWE Championship mantle and fended off the likes of Triple H and A.J. Styles.

Rollins would finally resurface at 2016's Extreme Rules PPV and was met with the sort of crowd response reserved for a top babyface getting their revenge on the most despised figure in the company.

Yet, instead of leaning into this remarkably positive reaction from the WWE Universe, Vince McMahon decided he wanted 'The Architect' to return as the same annoying b*stard he'd been in the lead up to his severe injury.

Fans were clearly confused with this decision, as their deafening cheers turned to puzzled groans during Rollins' return promo on Raw the following night.

What's even more perplexing is the fact WWE eventually chose to turn him face a few months later. However, by this time all of his initial return momentum had been completely lost.

Having a face Rollins return from serious injury to take back the prize he never lost against a clearly rejected Reigns (we'll get there) was a no-brainer after hearing the crowd's overjoyed reaction that night. But, WWE had their ridiculous plan and they were going to stick to it, whether you liked it or not.
