Admit it, you knew this one would be here.

It couldn't be left out, because The Shockmaster's fate has become iconic. Poor Fred Ottman had modest success as Tugboat and Typhoon in the WWF, but ol' Shocky was supposed to take him to the next level when he jumped to WCW in 1993. What happened next was a meme before such things existed.

The Shockmaster debuted at Clash Of The Champions XXIV during a 'Flair For The Gold' segment. He was supposed to burst through a hastily-assembled wall in his sparkly Stormtrooper helmet and change the game. Instead, Ottman tripped over a piece of wood that'd been awkwardly hammered to the base of the frame, fell over and lost his headpiece.

People laughed (including some of the other wrestlers on set), and there was no coming back for Ottman. He was rethought as a bumbling-but-lovable fool who played up to his error-strewn ways and had a heart of gold. The glittering Star Wars head gear went back into storage.
