10 Monster Wrestling Matches That Were Devastating Disappointments

1. Brock Lesnar Vs Goldberg

A memorable sh*tshow that will at long last be flushed away thanks to their rewarding 2016/2017 retread, Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg's initial outing was one of the most preposterous WrestleMania encounters of all time.

Smartly built as a cross-brand bullfight between the two black-trunked behemoths, Goldberg and Lesnar's tensions first arose when they were World Champions of their respective brands the prior November. Flash forward five months and neither were in title contention, but that was mostly due to the surprising news that both would depart the company immediately after the pay-per-view.

That Big Bill only had one date left on his contract had already made the build-up challenging. Stone Cold Steve Austin was inserted as a placeholder for the former WCW World Champion after he'd expressed absolutely no interest in adding more worknights to his deal before the 'Show Of Shows'. Lesnar's disinterest didn't emerge until the night itself, following revelations that weekend that he was sacking off his WWE career to forge a new path in the National Football League.

The typically discerning Madison Square Garden crowd were wise to the inner motivations of each competitor, and flatly refused to engage in their contest as a result. The disdain was mutual, as neither Bill or Brock had any interest in causing themselves or each other any sort of damage as they prepared for the next step. Post-match Stone Cold Stunners to both from 'The Rattlesnake' were the crowd's lone placation.
