10 Monster Wrestling Matches That Were Devastating Disappointments

2. Yokozuna Vs King Mabel

Booked against one another as 'punishment' by fan-friendly WWE President Gorilla Monsoon for the atrocities committed against The Undertaker the prior month, heels Yokozuna and King Mabel were both really really really massive and that was all Vince McMahon needed to assume the contest could be something worthy of pay-per-view billing.

Understandable to a point, the sight of over 1200lbs of human mass in the ring had curious appeal for the first minute or so, but the realistic inability to do all that much with one another soon overwhelmed the bizarre visual.

Worse still, a heel/heel dynamic shattered their best efforts to construct something the audience could genuinely get into. A 1994 Action Zone match fought under a more traditional dichotomy was remarkably pleasing. On that night, Mabel hit a crossbody from the second rope and was then hauled from the top by Yoko in presumably the biggest bump he ever took.

Furthermore, that match ended clean as a sheet when the former WWE Champion flattened the future King Of The Ring with his Banzai Drop. This bungled five minute mess ended in a double count-out so the heels could retain their dishonourable honour in the aftermath.
