10 Monster Wrestling Matches That Were Devastating Disappointments

4. Sid Vs Vader

Another WWE disappointment for the masked man in a series of them after his post-SummerSlam demotion in 1996, Vader's 'powerbomb' battle with Sycho Sid promised so much and yet didn't even deliver on the promised stipulation.

The pair had made a formidable double act in WCW, first as infamously comedic villains against Sting and Davey Boy Smith before Sid's overwhelming popularity resulted in a babyface turn and planned dispute with his former partner over the WCW World Heavyweight Title.

Sid's late-1993 sacking from the Atlanta outfit following a hotel war with Arn Anderson that saw the Horseman lacerated by scissor wounds put paid to that, but WWE were quick to pounce on the pairing after bringing the softball supremo back as an Ultimate Warrior replacement that summer.

Despite Vader's skills and Sid's impressive charisma, the pair couldn't carry the 15 minutes they were allotted, nor improvise a finish that actually fit the stipulation at hand. Sid had to win as per the ruling that whomever came out on top would get the next shot at Shawn Michaels' WWE Title.

He couldn't get his larger foe up and down for the big move though, eventually winning with a chokeslam as WWE unleashed Michaels himself at the finish to try and distract the audience from the debacle.
