10 MORE Of The Best Nicknames In Modern Wrestling

9. Daddy - Randy Orton

Drew McIntyre
WWE

Randy Orton's latest nickname presents an interesting contrast with the previous entrant. Whereas "Patriarch" is a clearly objectionable label - representing, as it does, an inherently sexist belief system - "Daddy" Orton is far more palatable to wrestling fans' ears. There are numerous reasons for this, but the main ones are:

1) When Randy first called himself "Daddy" in a verbal sparring session with Rhea Ripley, it was presented as one capital-A Alpha duelling with another. Rhea "Mami" Ripley has been presented as being on equal footing with the men in WWE for over a year now, so Randy's "Daddy's back!" line came across as him stepping up to a worthy rival, rather than punching down.

2) Randy Orton returned from his 18 month layoff in the best damn shape of his life. As such, "Daddy" fits him like a ski-suit on stupid, sexy Flanders' shapely buttocks. It showcases Orton's status as a seasoned veteran, his role as an elder statesman in the locker room, and the stone cold fact that many a horny wrestling fan (shoutout to Cageside Seats comments section) would like nothing more than to take him home and call him "Daddy".
