10 MORE Shocking WWE Plans You Won’t Believe

3. Little Dave Batista

The befuddling backstory that nearly befell Batista was recently retold in hilarious fashion by ex-WWE scribe Brian Gewirtz during an interview for Edge & Christian's podcast that had all three in utter hysterics.

Like an RKO, Vince dropped the idea on his creative team outta nowhere - he wanted Batista to be a foster child. At the time he was Evolution's killer. A young monster that McMahon asserted required a reason for his rage. After Gewirtz scripted an evocative discussion about the tale to take place live on Raw between Ric Flair and Big Dave, Vince suddenly canned the entire plot just before it made air.

'The Animal' himself had heard a similar version of events, noting that his uncaged fury was at one point supposed to come from being a child of rape, with Flair again acting as a surrogate father figure. Though the backgrounds offer significantly contrasting motivations, the similar foundations risked hamstringing what turned into one of the company's few main event elevation stories of the 2000s.
