1. Disco Inferno - Saturday Night Fever

And finally, we have perhaps the most transparently borrowed gimmick in the history of wrestling. Glenn Gilbertti debuted his Disco Inferno gimmick in WCW in 1995, named after The Trammps' song of the same name, which appeared on the soundtrack for the hit 1977 movie Saturday Night Fever.

If that wasn't enough, Gilbertti doubled down by slicking his hair to the side, attiring himself in similarly gaudy period duds to John Travolta's protagonist in the movie, and attempting his very same dance moves, though intentionally lacking any charm that Travolta brought to the table.

While Disco Inferno was never taken seriously as a wrestler, he was a fun attraction, and Gilbertti admirably committed himself wholeheartedly to the ridiculous gimmick. As an "original" creation, though, it wasn't fooling anyone.
