10 More WWE Stars Who Desperately Need New Gimmicks

7. Sonya Deville

Sonya Deville has been buried beneath WWE's repetitive authority figure-led programming for a few years now. Two years ago, during the height of her feud with old pal Mandy Rose, Sonya showed serious potential as a wicked witch heel who would stop at nothing to be cruel.

The writing team squished that flat, then made her Adam Pearce's PA.

Since assuming that role, Deville has tumbled down the pecking order in a division that she once looked like dominating. She's one of the least-effective heels on the roster - the kind who's all bark with no bite, and that's a damn shame considering how good she looked before being creatively neutered in the summer of 2020.

WWE has taken steps away from the soft-GM assistant gig, but they'll need to conjure up something more for Sonya as 2022 sprints towards 2023. If they do, then they might just find that she's the lead heel (one not-named Charlotte Flair) that SmackDown has needed for years.
