Butterbean was a veteran of the Tough Man competitions, a fighter with fists of stone. He earned a reputation for knocking opponents out with a single strike. Prior to WrestleMania XV, he had a history with World Wrestling Entertainment, appearing in an angle with former amateur boxer "Marvelous" Marc Mero. They had a terrible boxing match at the In Your House: D-Generation X pay-per-view in December 1997 and the big man was never seen from again. At least, that is, until Bart Gunn unexpectedly won the Brawl For All competition in 1998 and suddenly found himself booked in a fight with Butterbean at the Showcase of the Immortals. For whatever reason, WWE made the conscious effort to bring back a man who was involved in such a failure of a match just over a year earlier, and did it on the most important card of the year. Butterbean embarrassed the homegrown Gunn, who was knocked unconscious in a matter of seconds. And the company had another head-scratcher of a moment that did neither Superstar any favors. Butterbean would, thankfully, never be seen again.
