10 Most ANNOYING Wrestlers Ever
5. ‘Better Than You’ MJF
AEW's first few years blended fabulous matches and simple storytelling to excellent effect. It was everything Vince McMahon's WWE wasn't in 2019 and 2020, that's for sure. What's more, Tony Khan was pushing some genuinely fresh faces as megastars. Chief amongst them was shoot-style promo kingpin and ex-independent standout MJF. He was better than you, and you knew it.
Friedman's punchable smirk and ability to backup everything he was saying on the mic made him one of the most easy to hate pro wrestlers on the planet back then. It was actually a love/hate relationship from fans to wrestler, truth be told. People watching AEW output basked in MJF's dirtbag ways. They loved to hate him, and he was clearly having a blast being the industry's premier antagonist who had serious natural talent. Friedman was only ever going to get better as well, which became obvious even during Dynamite's debut episode.
His cheeky little smiles after saying something outrageous to another member of the roster were almost meme-worthy. No-one loved trolling some of wrestling's most celebrated names more than Max. That cocksure style on the mic and the ever-improving quality of his matches pushed MJF all the way to the AEW World Title in 2022. Admittedly, things haven't been quite so universally applauded since then.
All Elite's often confusing booking has stomped all over much of the momentum Friedman had between 2019-2022. Even so, he remains somebody fans react to. He just needs to find the spark that made his 'Better Than You' days so captivating. Captivating and/or annoying.
