10 Most Anticipated (Unlikely But Not Impossible) Wrestling Matches Of 2017
6. Asuka Vs Gail Kim
With Asuka struggling for competition for her championship at the end of 2016, NXT made the bold decision to bring in former WWE women's champion Mickie James to challenge her in Toronto.
It turned out to be a great move and Mickie more than lived up to expectations in her return as she took Asuka to the limit in a very good match. In fact, her appearance went so well that she signed a full-time contract to return to the main Smackdown roster in 2017; and we can't wait to see her tear it up with the likes of Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch in the new year.
While Ember Moon is likely the ultimate opponent for Asuka over WrestleMania weekend, the champ still doesn't have her card stamped for NXT TakeOver: San Antonio during Royal Rumble weekend. While NXT may opt for a multi-woman match for the show, this would be the perfect time to bring in another underutilised former WWE women's champ in Gail Kim to challenge her. Kim has been one of the best female workers in America for the last decade or more, and her vs Asuka could be one of the best matches of the year if it happens.
