When A.J. Styles cheekily tweeted a mocked up Royal Rumble 2017 poster featuring him facing off with WWE legend Shawn Michaels, it really got people talking.
With this year's Rumble event taking place at the massive Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, many believed that the WWE would need a huge marquee match to fill the stadium. And what better match than the return of hometown hero Shawn Michaels to take on the best wrestler in WWE today, A.J. Styles?
While HBK himself recently shot down the idea, we still believe this is a match which could happen in 2017, although maybe not as soon as the Royal Rumble. Having seen the buzz that the rumour of the match created, WWE would be crazy not to try and convince Michaels to come out of retirement for one last match. This one would be truly phenomenal if it happened.
