Many people over the years have used the Fujiwara Armbar, including MJF, Timothy Thatcher, Tommaso Ciampa, Becky Lynch and Mark Haskins, but the most vicious and brutal looking version comes from two-time IMPACT Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo.

In recent years, the Virtuosa has become a multi-time champion and currently holds both the Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship and the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship - and a large part of that success is thanks to her submission skills and the Fujiwara Armbar.

The Fujiwara Armbar was invented by Yoshiaki Fujiwara, a true pioneer in the art of submission wrestling in Japan. He was trained by the great Karl Gotch, while the likes of Josh Barnett and Ken Shamrock have praised his style and catch expertise as influences on their styles.

Also known as the short armbar, the wrestler will take their opponent's arm, laying on their back at a 90-degree angle, and pull it back, putting pressure and stretching the forearm, bicep and pectoral muscles. Purrazzo uses this application of the move as well as the bridging method, which puts even more pressure on the arm in question - allowing for a quick and easy tap out.
