10 Most Badass Wrestling Threats EVER
2. The Last Thing You Want To Hear...
...from the last man you'd ever want to hear it from.
Minoru Suzuki helped pioneer mixed martial-arts by co-founding Pancrase. Suzuki beat Ken Shamrock, then the marketed World's Most Dangerous Man, in a legit fight. Twice. Suzuki is such a tough and frightening man that he was able, in a shoot fight, to reverse a hold by gradually pressing his shinbone against his opponent for a prolonged period of time. The periostal layer covering the shin is swarming with pain receptors and is particularly vulnerable because barely any flesh or muscle protects it. The shin is one of the weakest points of most men.
To Suzuki, it is a f*cking weapon.
Suzuki is a genius pro wrestler because he is able to project and articulate this outrageous toughness within the theatrical context of the form. His scary facial expressions; his glee at being chopped because it's an invitation for him to hit harder; his terrifyingly quick penetration step that endangers his opponents in less than a second: the man is incredible, and his promo game is, too.
Two years ago, he cut a promo aimed at NJPW and TV Asahi and the commentary team's insistence on referring to him as a 52 year-old. "I'm not like those other 52 year-olds who can barely take a crap. Don't push me. I only live to fight. That's the only reason I eat!"
You'd be f*cking sh*tting yourself if you were poor Chris Charlton.
