10 Most Believable Underdogs In Wrestling Today

1. Darby Allin

Darby Allin was in the first match in the history of AEW Dynamite, winning a bout before the broadcast against CIMA. I should know, because I was there. The unique high-flyer captured the attention of the crowd from the moment he set foot in the ring. From there, his stock in the company has only risen in a way that has him earmarked as a future world champion.

Allin is utterly captivating to watch in the ring. A fearless daredevil, everything from his facepaint, to the way he moves, stalking around like a wild animal, to his dazzling array of attacks, punctuated by the awe-inspiring Coffin Drop, make him an enthralling spectacle.

There's something about him that commands attention in a way that hasn't been seen since a young Jeff Hardy left jaws on the floor during the heyday of the Attitude Era. Similar to Darby, Jeff was initially seen as too small, too reckless to work on as a main eventer, but eventually proved everyone wrong.

Allin, like Hardy before him, has embraced total fearlessness, and it shows in everything he does. He wrestles with total conviction, believing in himself in everything that he does. And it turns out, if a wrestler has complete confidence and belief in themselves, the audience will be sure to follow.
